Always a favourite in Ken's cellar, the Freedom Hills Pinot comes from a tiny slice (2.85 acres) of this well-respected vineyard lying between Eola Hills to the east and the Coastal Range to the west. A tad warmer than vineyards in either neighbouring region, but also possessed of unusually bright acidity. Ken's parcels were re-planted about 10 years ago after phylloxera reached Freedom Hill, and now they give a wine with a wonderful blend of richness and structure, accessibility and ability to age. Expect lots of spice, chocolate, and herb notes to add complexity to the dark raspberry and plum.
