Chateau de Santenay is one of Burgundy's largest wine estates. The majestic castle dates from the 9th century and was owned by Philippe le Hardi, Duke of Burgundy, for a period of time in the 14th century. He issued the edict that established monocepage viticulture in Burgundy, resulting in the substitution of Pinot Noir for Gamay.� Chateau de Santenay owns 90 hectares of vineyards, spread over the Cote d'Or and the Cote Chalonnaise.� In total, they make wine in 14 appellations, including Mercurey, Aloxe-Corton, Santenay, Pommard, and Saint-Aubin. �Since 2004, the ch�teau has been Terra Vitis certified.In the glass, the Santenay Bourgogne Chardonnay vieilles vignes has a bright, straw-yellow color with a rich, expressive nose with notes of white blossom, citrus, and a light woody touch. The attack is lively, with a pleasant acidity, the taste balanced, subtle, and elegant.
